13 Generous Bachelors Raise a Lucky $54,000+ for Shelter From The Storm
Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Palm Desert, CA – Tickets were sold out and the night was hot at the 2nd Annual Desert Cities Charity Bachelor Auction in the big fashion tents on El Paseo. Thirteen bighearted bachelors offered date packages with values up to $10,000 with all auction proceeds supporting Shelter From The Storm, a local charity that provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence.
Bachelor Joel fetched $5,500 for his deluxe package which includes dinner for ten prepared in the lucky winner’s home by Executive Chef Eric Wadlund of Spencer’s on the Mountain.
Bachelor David drew $5,000 for a year of pampering which includes facials, hair styling, pedicures, manicures, massage, lunches, wine, golf and weekly car washes – what more would a girl want? Maybe what Bachelor Brian offered – cruising on San Diego Bay with eight friends on a 72’ Sunseeker Yacht sipping cocktails at sunset and spending the night at Hotel Del Coronado. Brian’s package also yielded $5,000 for the Shelter.
Bachelor Lee lured $4,000 for the Shelter with two round trip tickets to San Fran, two nights at Clint Eastwood’s Mission Ranch and Tehama Golf Course, as well as dinner for six at Hog’s Breath paired with Pininfarina wines. Lee’s package didn’t stop there - also included was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for two behind the wheels of the most heralded automobiles in the world - Bentley Supersports, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Audi R8 and McClaren with a support crew from World Class Driving in Carmel.
“In these tough economic times when abuse rises and funding for charities falls, women want to share with those who are not as lucky as they are,” said event organizer Diana Marlo. “Many of our bidders were married, but appreciated the phenomenal value of the auction date packages and were there to support the charity,” she said “We are thrilled we met our goal this year, doubling last year’s contribution to the Shelter.”
SHELTER FROM THE STORM is the Coachella Valley's only emergency shelter based agency that is dedicated to the provision of life saving services to abused women and child victims of violent homes. With 10 locations throughout the Coachella Valley, each year services are provided to over 3,000 women and children including over 12,000 nights of emergency shelter and 37,000 meals.
